Market Report 2008-2009 PDF Print E-mail

Last updated: January 7, 2009

All prices have droped an additional 10% recently. It is unlikely prices will go back up this season.

Future changes are unlikley--prices are lower than last year.

The market is volatile (unpredictable) at the current time. Due to the new president and stockmarkets world wide the fur market is going to be unpredictable. If the new president does what he has said, the market will become even more volatile. The foreign markets are also having problems. The market may change from day-to-day--caution would be advised.

Three months ago before the election, stock maket, and the credit crunch things were looking great for the 2008-2009 fur season. We will wait and see.

Check back for updates as they develop.

Market Report 2007-2008 PDF Print E-mail

Last Updated: February 11, 2008

The general fur market outlook is good at this time, check the fur routes for locations and times.

*Oklahoma limits: 40 raccoons and 2 red fox per license.

Muskrat are going to be a weak seller this year and prices will be down as much as 60% of last years prices.

Bobcat
Demand is very good with large orders. Prices will vary depending on quality--cats prime later, so your best cats are caught after Christmas. Top cats should be at last year's levels. (Early unprimed cats and low grades will be much cheaper, so WAIT for them to prime.)  Rile damaged and dog chewed cats will have little value . (Don't wait until the last days of the fur season to tag cats.) Cats we purchased in west Texas have reached highs of $225 for selects. Cats we purchased in West Oklahoma have reached $200 for selects.

Raccoons
Deman is improving. Prices are better this season; watch for updates as this may change during the season.

Coyote
Demand is weaker this season, expect price to be 20%-30% less than last year.

Beaver
Demand is good this season, expect price to be 10% less than last year.

Badger
Good demand at last season’s level. Badger's prime later, so wait until after Christmas to catch them, and quality is important.

Opossum
Big grays will sell. Toss the blacks and smalls in a ditch.

Skunk
In good demand this season. (Carcass skunks are purchased ONLY at the home location.)

Red Fox
In good demand this season, expect price to be 5% less than last year.

Gray Fox
Demand has exceeded last years level. Hot item.

Wild Mink
In demand this season, expect 5% less than last year.
